Abstract. V0 Punks is a tribute collection of 10,000, every punk redrawn by hand in the visual idiom of Nakamigos: same face, same traits, redrawn with chibi proportions and pastel framing. We follow the meme literally.

Origin

On August 11, 2025, in a Charleston studio, Beeple aired an AI-forged "interview" of CryptoPunks founders Matt Hall and John Watkinson, claiming Nakamigos was the secret V0 Punks, a never-released prequel from Larva Labs. The community split between troll and market manipulation. The Nakamigos floor pumped ~140% in six hours. Daily volume +3000%. The video was identified as AI parody within a day, but the meme stuck.

In May 2026, Beeple revived it on X with one line: "if provenance matters then you guys are gonna LOVE v0 punks". V0 Punks is the artistic response: the meme as a 10,000-piece on-chain collection.

The collection

10,000 tributes, sequentially numbered. Token N inherits the exact 14-category trait set of CryptoPunk #N: Type, Skin Tone, Hair, Hat, Beard, Eyes, Mouth, Mouth Prop, Neck, Ears, Nose, Blemishes (and their makeup variants). Layer compositor renders skin → type overlay → blemishes → ears → neck → eyes makeup → hair → mouth → mouth makeup → hat → beard → eyes (glasses) → nose → mouth prop. Native resolution 2000×2000 PNG.

Mint mechanics (closed, sold out)

• FCFS: no allowlist, no snapshot, no holder gating
• 1 free mint per wallet
• 0.0003 ETH per additional mint
• 10 max per wallet
• 10,000 total supply: 9,900 public, 100 creator reserve
• Single public stage, Ethereum mainnet
• Royalties: 5% EIP-2981, no transfer enforcement (Blur-compatible)
• Result: 10,000 / 10,000 minted, 6,000+ unique holders.

v2: the wardrobe (in progress)

v1 sold out 10,000/10,000. v2 is now in active development. Wardrobe = separate ERC-1155 contract with off-chain renderer. Meebits clothing taxonomy redrawn in the V0 Punks idiom: jerseys, jackets, tees, accessories, backgrounds. Equip mechanism via off-chain SIWE signature (zero gas for users). The face stays permanently locked; the wardrobe is yours to choose.
